Pretty Patchwork Cushions

Here are the two lovely completed patchwork cushions all hand-stitched. I filled them with a scented filling and added buttons and a bow embellishment. I'm so very proud of them!

Work in progress...

I have been totally inspired by the TV programme 'Kirstie's Homemade Home' and wanted to start making a patchwork cushion as soon as i'd seen how to do it on Tuesday evening. I'm currently making two...maybe for gifts...maybe to sell...although I quite fancy keeping one for myself ;)

I'm also trying out another sock owl in neutral colours made in a slightly different way to the two other ones i've made previously.

I'm making a reindeer too although he doesn't have a head yet so thought he'd look a little scary if I posted a picture of him!!

I shall post again with the finished products.

Lots of new things!

Just thought i'd add a quick update with my new makes both completed and work in progress! Here are the things i've finished...

Two hanging hearts, the finished pink snowlady and a robin tree ornanment (the top is open, like a pocket, for a christmassy treat to be put inside!)

Messy Fun!!

I decided to introduce Joshua to finger painting today!! I made sure to cover all surfaces!
I look forward to doing lots more crafty things and baking with him!
I made some yummy banana flapjack this afternoon too for Joshua. He enjoyed it...I kept getting lots of "ummm, yum yum"'s from him so it must be good!!

Christmas doodles

These are a few sketches I did last night of possible Christmassy bits I may have a go at creating. I'm liking the idea of the robin, penguin and reindeer the best. The robin and reindeer would have long felt or ribbon legs with bells on the end! Perfect to dangle off a shelf!

I do have a couple of other ideas for Christmas softies too which I may have to try out first...

Sock Animals!!

After making lots and lots of sock mice I then fancied trying out some other animals!

So, i've had a go at making a stripy zebra, a funky sock croc, two owls and two bunnys. However I can't reveal the second bunny just yet as she hasn't been received by her new friend Lola!! ;) Photo/ photos to follow soon!

I feel like a bit of a 'sock freak' now...I always have to check out the socks in shops (we're off to The Trafford Centre tomorrow! You know where i'll be!!) There's so many funky patterns, the possibilities of new animals are endless!

Pretty Pink Snowlady!

Here's my latest project! I'm making a snowman from a sock! A pretty pink snowlady!!

I'm going to add some buttons to her front, stitch on some eyes, maybe add some stitched detail to her hat and scarf and add a little bell to the top of her hat.

I'll post a pic once she's done!

New camera

I got myself a new camera last weekend and these are a few shots I took, out and about, whilst learning how to use it.

I fell in love with the 'film grain' effect which these have all been taken with.

Teeny weeny cottage pin cushion

I decided to make myself a cute pin cushion a while back and made this! Beats using the boring plastic pin box!!

It was a little fiddly to do. I made myself a tiny template, which helped. I love the result!

I've since noticed that Cath Kidston have done a cottage pin cushion...also very cute!!

Storage jars

When Joshua was younger and eating food from baby jars I managed to collect together loads and loads of the baby jars. I kept them in a cupboard thinking i'd come back to them one day and make something with them!

These two jars were my first attempts from creating something with them...handy for storing my tea-bags in at work!

I've still loads and loads of the tiny jars left and will hopefully get them used by making more little pretty storage jars...I have a few ideas up my sleeve for them ;)

Two 'new baby' gifts...

I made these two felt hanging bits for two of the ladies at work who were having babies.

The elephant was made for baby Lola and the butterfly hanging was made to match in with baby Amelie's nursery :)

Some fabric flowers...

I need to make some of these into brooches or hair clips...

Artworks etc

Here's a few artworks etc i've done....

Name Banners

I decided to have a go at making a name banner for Joshua for his room. I quickly bought all the felt and bits and pieces and got sewing. I really really enjoyed making it and was very pleased with the end result!

I showed my friend the one i'd made and she asked me to make one for her and i've since had other friends and family wanting them too!....I hadn't realised how many i'd made all together until I put together this montage!!

I'm really glad I had a go at making a name banner as it's inspired me to try other things!

Sewing is definetly my favourite craft of the moment!! :)

Teeeeth!!

"Teeeeth" is what Joshua says when I mention brushing his teeth to him.

It's a bit hit and miss when it comes to teeth brushing. He'll either shake his head and not let me come near him or open his mouth wide and let me have a good brush!!

This is him having a go himself this evening in the bath....which was then followed by him trying to drink the bath water....and splashing me!!!

More hanging things...!

I love bits and pieces I can hang from door handles, hooks, corners of pictures or mirrors....anywhere I can find really!! These are a selection of a few I've made as gifts and one for myself!!

Hanging Hearts

A few hanging hearts I've made using felt...

Inspiration

This has to be one of the best blogs I have ever come across. So inspirational both at work, where I work as a Graphic Designer designing greetings cards, and at home.

Whenever I'm stuck for ideas and need something to set me off this is my first port of call!

Pretty pansies & a couple of roses

Some photos I took last weekend of some of our flowers...although the slugs and snails have been having a nibble :(

Boooo to the slugs and snails!!

Morning snuggles :)))

I love weekend mornings. I can never sleep in however but both my husband and little Joshua can! They both love their sleep....I would if I could!!

You'd think Joshua would wake up at the crack of dawn but nope, he usually sleeps till half 8 ish! (we have to wake him up sometimes through the week!!)

Anyway, it's time soon for him to wake so I shall be bringing him in to our bed for morning snuggles!! This usually means quiet, snuggly time for a little bit...but soon he'll get giddy and start prodding and poking, climbing over us to reach things on the bedside tables and clinging on to the headboard to then let go and dive bomb between us!! All good fun!!

Joshi Pops

Joshua seems to get funnier and funnier by the day!! So full of smiles (and his new thing now, putting his hand over his mouth and laughing!!) I caught him doing this looking at his reflection in the oven door yesterday!! He's a real character now, always on the go. I can't believe how quickly he's grown up...he's a toddler now, no longer a tiny baby! I really am finding his age now (20 months) so so fun. We keep catching him saying new words. At the moment he's constantly saying "Hiya" and loves saying "Mmmore" when he finishes his bowl of Shreddies in a morning...which soon turns into three bowls!!
He loves music and to have a little dance. When the track stops or the radio gets switched off we get a "Again!"
Anyway enough of me going on....for now ;)

I'm back!!!!

Ok, so it's been two whole months since I made my first post!! I've been a busy bee! I always seem to be on the go which is why I've never got back to my blog. Just set up email to my blog which means it's going to be much easier to add bits and pieces here and there straight from my phone :) whoooopee!!

So, crafty wise I've been making a few animals from socks!! Brand new socks of course....not the tatty, been worn loads variety!! Ooooh, I do love a new pair of socks....Erin, my Sister-in-Law, often buys me a pair for Christmas or Birthdays and I love it!! In fact I'm wearing a pair from her right now :)

The sock animal addiction(!!) all started from when I came across a tutorial for a sock mouse I found on

http://shelleyrodgers.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-made-this-sock-mouse.html

She makes some beautiful things...I couldn't wait to have a go at making a mouse!......these two were my first attempts....Milly & Mia
